Georgie Lury

I joined StarStruck when I was 8 years old taking drama and musical theatre lessons until I was 16. Katie and the teachers always made my lessons fun and I knew from an early age I wanted to be like them and teach.

StarStruck gave me the opportunity to explore and practice my dreams taking part in endless performances in local festivals and top London West End stages including Her Majesty’s Theatre, the Albert Hall and Sadlers Wells.

I continued my performing arts journey studying Musical Theatre at Birmingham Ormiston Academy and then did my IDTA teaching qualification whilst studying at Nottingham University. I now teach at StarStruck’s Performing Arts Project.

I wouldn’t be where I am now if StarStruck hadn’t shaped me into the performer and teacher I am today. Without them I would not have gone on to professional work including leading roles such as ‘Sandy’ in ‘Grease’ at The Town Hall, Birmingham and being a part of the professional musical ‘How to Succeed in Business’ in Manchester.

I would like to thank Katie for all the amazing opportunities I have had so far and teaching me the skills I now have to teach. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the progression of your students and seeing them smile because they love what they are doing. It brings back fond memories and I hope I can inspire the next generation just like Katie inspired me.
